Mr. Yusuf Kamruddin Saboowala established the company. He was inspired by personal and socioeconomic challenges to broaden his business horizon. In the early 1900s, he established the family business, Kamruddin Hakimji Saboowala in the food and confectionery line with 14 shops and warehouses in the Crawford Market, which was a significant trading and commercial center. After two decades of work in the waterproofing industry, in 1975, he set up his own distribution business for waterproofing material in Thane. Known to be extremely fussy and working hard towards success, Yusuf would ride a bicycle to visit clients to promote his products. These motives of his working are an inspiration to the company of today.

His son, Shabbir Yusuf Saboowala, also joined the family business in 1981. He learned the internal nuances of the industry by being directly in charge of projects, and he rapidly formed good rapport with laborers and clients alike. His expertise in waterproofing combined with good decision-making skills quickly resulted in more significant growth for clients for the company. Shabbir emphasized mentorship to his team, allowing him to develop a strong base of skilled management that earned loyalty from the clients through a very customer-centric approach. His principles of transparency, consistency, and honesty remain core to the operations of Shibam and are adhered to by his son, Adnan Shabbir Saboowala. He graduated with a Commerce degree from the University of Mumbai and with an MBA with focus on Family Managed Businesses from S.P. Jain Institute of Management Research. Adnan has taken companies international expansion to the next level by forming international connections with suppliers and oversees the new product development and marketing activities. Guiding his business forward, Adnan sees even greater success in business with mentorship from his predecessors.

Our History

In the last 43 years, Shibam has achieved landmark results. Our most notable are as follows:

1975: Mr. Yusuf Kamruddin Saboowala established Saifi Enterprises.
1978: We entered into a collaboration with STP Ltd, part of the Turner Morrison Group, to develop the distribution of Bituminous Waterproofing Products which further strengthens our footprint in the area of waterproofing.
1980: We added the product lines of Thermal Insulation Materials
1982: First Waterproofing Contract for Rs 12,000
1990: Dealt in Construction Chemicals
2000: We became dealership agents for couple of big Waterproofing Brands Brands, namely, Texsa and Pidilite Industries.
2001: Local purchases represent our foray into the Roofing Shingles market.
2006: Company name Shibam Ventures was adopted, marking our achievement of new heights in the specialty building material distribution industry in India.
2009 We won the distributorship for Roofing Shingles from GAF, USA, which was our first import transaction. GAF has been in the business of roofing since 1886 and forms part of one of the largest roofing and waterproofing businesses worldwide.
2009: We also began importing Waterproofing Membranes from Bitunil, Egypt, which is one of the prominent APP Membrane manufacturers, thus allowing us to be competitive in terms of both quality and price
2010: Shibam Ventures and Building Materials Private Limited was incorporated as a corporate firm.
2010: We won the biggest Roofing Shingles contract in our companys history which stood at 250,000 sq. ft from Forest Trails, Paranjape Schemes Construction Ltd.
2011: The sales operations expanded all over the country since we employed people in all states and appointed Channel Partners.
2012: Distributor for BASF Construction Chemicals where my skills were applied through creating chemical solutions for the construction and renovation of projects.
2014: Rank No.2 in the PAN India Distributor Sales League by BASF Construction Chemicals.
2015: Second largest Importer for Roofing Shingles in India.
2016 Portfolio has been enriched through the addition of the Sound Proofing Membranes by Soprema Group, Spain and TPO Waterproofing Membranes by GAF, USA.
2016 Adopted spray application of the two-component PU waterproofing system and invested in modern high-pressure spray machinery.
2017: We have granted the exclusive PAN India distributorship for Stone Coated Metal Roofing from Roser, one of South Korea's top manufacturers.
2018: Exclusive distribution agreement is signed with GAF, USA, for West, Central, and South India over 11 states and 3 Union Territories.
2018: We also signed an exclusive distributorship agreement for Sinicon PP-Thermal Insulated Plastering Aggregate, which will be sold in Maharashtra. This is a new product imported from South Africa, made out of volcano residue, thus it's natural and environmentally friendly.
